Stanford University
【結果報告・自己評価】
In the past few years, I had the opportunities to participate in several conferences related to my field of interest.
I had gained experiences and received several pieces of advice from researchers around the globe.
However, I had also realized that there are still plenty of things for me to learn in order to keep up with those experts.
Thus, I would like to have a chance to improve my research skills and advance my education even further.
Fortunately, IPER handed me the opportunity to fulfill my ambition.
Because of the grant supported by IPER, I was able to cover all the expenses during the school,
which would have been impossible to do with only my own budget.
I had participated in Siegman International School on Lasers, which was held at Stanford University, California.
The school was divided into several sessions including lecture, poster presentation, lab tour, and industry talk.
My attention was drawn to the lecture given by Prof. Robert L. Byer.
He talked about the history of lasers, the breakthroughs in solid state lasers, and the recent progress in accelerator on a chip.
He also discussed about the future possibilities of X-ray generation with dielectric undulator, which I had not realized before.
I had also listened to the talk given by Dr. Steven Chu, the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics for the laser cooling and trapping of atoms.
He discussed the challenges, opportunities, and necessity to achieve a sustainable future.
His talk is so compelling and I strongly agreed with him that industrial revolution should balance environmental sustainability.
The interview session with Dr. Milton Chang is the one that I like the most.
He is currently a Trustee of the California Institute of Technology.
In the past, he was president of Newport and New Focus, has incubated more than a dozen company as an angel investor; none failed.
He kindly shared his experiences and gave several pieces of advice on how-to a start business.
His talk was such an inspiration and provided me with new perspective on how science can be related to the business world.
In this school, I was assigned for a poster presentation.
During the time I presented, I was delightful that many professors and students were interested in my work.
I had a great opportunity to discuss and exchange my experiences with researchers around the globe such as United State, China, Ukraine, Egypt, Germany, and Greece.
I honestly appreciate their invaluable advice and kind support throughout my presentation. After I came back,
I was truly inspired and motivated by these researchers.
I had been provided with new perspectives and ideas to take my research methods and analysis skills to the next level.
I also had a chance to meet wonderful people who were willing to advise a young researcher like me with all their hearts.
Those precious moments and experiences will always be imprinted in my memory that will last for a life time.
Thank you again for having such a wonderful program. If there is anything I can ever do in the future for IPER please do not hesitate to contact me.
